Al Villavecchia, Jr.

Alfred Villavecchia, Sr. has passed away on November 29, 2004 at age 82. He was the first recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award of the coveted New Jersey Opticians Association, past president of the Guild of Prescription Opticians of New Jersey, served on the National Guild Council, past president and member of the North Hudson Lions Club and originator of one of the first optical buying groups in 1980. The Optical industry was his life. His family owned and operated retail optical store was established in 1900 and celebrated 101 years of business before closing its doors to concentrate solely on the buying group. From a retirement hobby to now over 1100 members and growing, the family owned buying group has proven it’s devotion, honesty and loyalty to it’s members and suppliers. His wife Jean, children Diane and Al, and grandson Brian will still maintain the quality and sincerity that the ophthalmic industry has come to expect.

His memories have touched the lives of all that knew him and he will surely be missed.

The Villavecchia family is very appreciative and grateful for all the help that has been extended by our members and vendors through these difficult times.
